You don't need to have a traditional home phone line to have Spirit Ultra Fast Internet (UFi). In fact, Spirit UFi runs over a separate and parallel wiring to the home telephone line.
Many people have a PSTN telephone line and pay telephone service rental just to have the ADSL broadband service. Since Spirit UFi runs separate to telephony services, you can choose to keep or cancel your home phone line.
You have two options when it comes to a home landline. The first option is to keep the phone line you already have (see * if you have a medical condition which requires access to PSTN service).
Alternatively, you may choose a Spirit Bundle, which comes with a digital (VoIP) line converter, and get your phone plugged into a digital converter (ATA), that we provide, at a single location. This keeps things simple and is good for a smaller home or an apartment. You can then cancel your existing phone line, but it does mean your existing phone jacks/points (if in multiple rooms) won’t work once your old telephone service is disconnected.

Important things you need to know:
- Calls to 000 emergency services are not guaranteed in the event of a power outage.
- Spirit UFi Phone service does not support back to base security or medical alarms. Please consult your alarm provider as to what measures you need to take to ensure the continued operation of your back to base alarms without a PSTN (copper) phone line.
- Calls to certain ‘high-risk’ international destinations are not available by default.
